30/09/20: This year marks the 40th Anniversary of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope. This year our school raised over $1700 for this worthwhile cause. Thank you to all who showed their support!
In 2019-2020, St. James Elementary took a giant leap into the world of technology and innovation. Our school was fortunate enough to be selected as a Phase 2 school, which allowed us the opportunity to develop a room in the school dedicated to project based learning involving Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Fittingly, the students themselves decided to call this makerspace area the STEAM room. Here is our Virtual space which coincides with our Physical space in the school.
(Library Learning Commons)
At the same time, as part of the Phase 2 schools program, our school developed a Library Learning Commons, to offer our students a library space which offers more than just books. It's a place to research, collaborate, explore and create. Our students maned this space the DREAMROOM, a place where your dreams can come alive.
We also have a Virtual Library Learning Commons which offers online literacy resources for students and families.
The community of St. James Elementary School is committed to providing a caring environment, developing the qualities of self-esteem, creative thinking,, a love for learning, and a respect for self and others, realizing that quality education is an individual lifelong process involving physical, spiritual, emotional, and social development to produce happy, responsible citizens.
It is the vision of SJE that all students entrusted to our care will develop as well rounded individuals with inquiring minds, healthy bodies, respect for the environment, a caring attitude and a desire to be productive citizens in an adult world.
